How to go about dieting and supplementing for guys doing quitting porn and masturbation is one of the most underemphasized subjects around the community.
People have a tendency to either give vague advice like “eat healthier” or just write it off completely as if it doesn’t matter.
It does matter.
It matters a lot.
How you approach this plays a HUGE impact on your mood, your overall hormonal balance, and how easy or hard this journey becomes.
Recovery is both physical AND psychological.
And by physical, I’m talking about your entire body, not just your genitals.
Mood swings, fatigue, and feeling like shit are common side effects that most people who undergo this process experience.
If you’re eating takeout for breakfast lunch and dinner or consuming massive amounts of sugar, not only are you not depriving your body of what it needs to heal, but you’re making the entire process harder than it needs to be.
In general, when it comes to retaining sexual energy for the purposes of harnessing energy and achieving a goal, there are two main theories or worldviews when it comes to how a person should approach dieting for maximizing sexual energy.
I’m going to break them both down for you.
One focuses on eating in a way that lowers your testosterone and kills your sex drive. The logic behind it is if you minimize your sex drive, you won’t feel as tempted to release it, and it makes life easier. Lets me break it down for you…
Approach #1: The Gandhi approach
I call it that because that’s exactly the approach that Gandhi, and many other Eastern medicine practitioners followed. To their credit, it most certainly does work.
The basic premise is you should avoid meat, dairy, onions and anything else that helps produce testosterone and stick to fruits, vegetables, and grains.
After a few months of doing this, your testosterone levels will sink down the shitter and you’ll have a much easier time overcoming temptation!
However, the undisclosed disclaimer that comes along with living and eating this way is that it predisposes you to becoming a passive, weak little bitch boy. Gandhi was successful because he motivated people and he got what he needed to get done. However, he was anything but healthy. At the time of his death, he was on a diet of strictly berries and nuts.
When asked why he was so strict about eating this way, he revealed that it was to control his sex drive so he could stay focused on his mission. I should also mention that his teeth were rotting and falling out and his body had degenerated to that of an emaciated corpse. While I have respect for the guy and acknowledge that he was a very influential figure, I am of the belief that taking this approach is just flat out stupid for any man that has a desire to carry himself with power, energy, and pride.
If you eat like a weak little bitch, you’re going to end up looking and feeling like a weak little bitch.
Need proof? Look at any vegan male that’s been following that diet for over a year. While I have nothing against vegans, my own two eyes tell me that that approach is not optimal for strength, masculinity, power, and raw aggression.
So what does this mean for a recovering porn addict?
My goal is to have steady energy throughout the day, increase testosterone, and feel excellent on a day to day basis.
The issue with following the Gandhi approach to dieting for PMO recovery is that it relies on minimizing your sex drive in order to avoid temptation.
The problem with this approach is that contrary to popular belief, having a low sex drive is NOT a good thing, even if you’re not releasing.
Because it is a massive source of power!!!
The goal of recovery is NOT to eliminate desire! The goal is to develop full control over it and leverage it to your benefit instead of being a slave to it.
Post recovery, my sex drive is as high as ever. The difference is that now I am in control and I use it to get what I want, instead of being a helpless slave to it.
Why do men go out of their way to do favors for beautiful women and hand over leverage for no reason, even if they know it isn’t going to get them laid? It’s a side effect of a weak will that comes from years of submissive programming.
One of the biggest indicators of how far you are into your recovery is the resurrection of your masculine power.
When you’ve reached a point where you don’t care how people react to your beliefs and actions, that’s a clear cut milestone in your recovery process that every man who takes this seriously eventually attains.
When you genuinely no longer care what people think and you’re not thirsting for pussy 24/7, it’s a lot easier to get what you want out of life!
Approach #2: The Mike Tyson Approach
Tyson is well known in the public eye for his sexual escapades.
In his memoir, he writes about how when he was incarcerated, he would have sex with many women a day every single day.
What you probably don’t know is that Tyson took it to a whole different level during his comeup. In his own words,
“I never knew that conquering so many women takes so much from you more than adds so much to you. I always read that the great fighters never had sex before fights and I was a young kid and I wanted to be the youngest heavyweight champion in the world, so I restrained myself from sex for around FIVE YEARS.”
5 years is quite extreme. As you know, Tyson was a top tier athlete and eating like a testicle impaired rabbit just wasn’t going to cut it if he wanted to be strong and powerful. I would initially justify my addiction by saying that it was impossible because no strong man with a high sex drive could go such a long time without getting off one way or another. After reading about Tyson, I realized how dumb of an excuse that was. Can any of you honestly say that you have more pent up aggression than he did in his prime?
While I don’t recommend following Tyson’s diet to the letter (it’s a boxing performance based diet), there is one main takeaway from it.
Unlike Gandhi, Tyson was eating to maximize testosterone and sex drive, not minimize it.
In practice, this means lots of animal protein, saturated fats, and a ton of vegetables, and a moderate amount of clean carbs.
The blueprint that I’ve come up with for my own recovery has worked wonders for me.
This isn’t a bodybuilding or athletic performance based diet. You’re not going to put on massive amounts of muscle by eating this way. That requires a whole different approach (insert link here).
This is a diet meant specifically for guys recovering from porn and masturbation.
The specific goals I had in mind were:
- Maximize testosterone production and get my hormonal system back on track as quickly as possible
- Have a lot of energy throughout the day without the sluggishness that comes from massive carb spikes
- Amplify the benefits from quitting porn and masturbation
- Maximize sex drive
- Taste good
The best part of it is how easy it is to put into practice. This is just a general outline. Feel free to tweak it to meet your own needs.
Steak, chicken, beef, ground turkey (as much as I wanted)
Heaping side dish of asparagus, broccoli, and carrots
Glass of beet juice
Steak, chicken, ground beef
Large salad with olive oil and vinaigrette dressing
Dinner (an hour before bed)
For dinner, I would eat a large carb source. A lot of times I would get pizza or takeout food. If you have a fast metabolism and lift weights, you don’t have to worry about getting fat.
If you’re carrying around a lot of bodyfat or you don’t work out, it would be in your best interest to go for a cleaner carb source around dinner time and not go all out on the fast food.
After dinner, I would take advantage of the massive post-carb insulin spike and fall fast asleep to wake up nice and refreshed the next morning!
Why no carbs during the day?
The day is meant for kicking ass and taking names. Its hard to kick ass if you feel like snoozing halfway through the day. Chances are you’ve heard of the term “post lunch slump”. It’s that feeling you get around early afternoon where you feel like curling up and taking a nap.
There’s a reason for that…
The culprit is that burger or pizza you had for lunch!
By saving all the carbs until dinnertime, the sleepiness that follows works to your benefit instead of working against you! Instead of tossing and turning in bed or staying up all night debating whether or not you should relapse, you can fall into a comfortable deep sleep and wake up early the next morning refreshed and full of energy!
Why is this so heavy on meats and fats?
Contrary to popular belief, meat and saturated fat is NOT bad for you. This is based on outdated research. Eating high quality meat will not give you cancer. As long as you’re getting in plenty of vegetables, you’re not going to “miss out” on anything at all!
Protein and fats take longer time to digest and leave you feeling full for much longer than carbohydrates. They provide a steady source of energy and are far less likely to end up on your midsection in the form of bodyfat.
My view on supplements and nootropics as a whole are that the vast majority are unnecessary and an overall waste of time and money.
I get questions all the time asking why I don’t advocate taking 10 different nootropics in a stack and the simple answer is because they’re overrated and won’t make that big of a difference anyway.
More variety is not necessarily better. Its better to invest in one or two that work extremely well, rather than waste time with the endless variety of garbage that’s out there.
For the purposes of PMO recovery, there are a select few supplements that can and will make a BIG DIFFERENCE in your recovery process. I put them on this list because it is a night and day difference and you will ACTUALLY FEEL different.
Mandatory Supplements for Recovery:
Magnesium – Get the pills (Amazon)
Zinc is by far THE MOST IMPORTANT mineral a man needs. If you have a pornography addiction, chances are, you are seriously lacking and paying dearly for it.
Zinc is absolutely mandatory for testosterone production and you lose a significant amount of it every time you ejaculate. If you’ve been doing this for years and years, chances are your body has a serious zinc deficiency and you are suffering the consequences.
Magnesium is also mandatory because its an extremely common mineral that many men aren’t getting enough of.
If you’re not vitamin deficient, then supplementing won’t do anything for you. HOWEVER, if you are deficient in a specific mineral, you fix the deficiency, it literally feels like you are taking drugs.
The majority of men are heavily lacking in zinc. This applies 10 fold over for someone who uses porn on a regular basis. A smaller percentage are lacking in magnesium, but you won’t know for sure until you start supplementing.
Not mandatory, but highly recommended
N-A-C – detoxes your organs, specifically your liver and kidneys. Get it (Amazon).
5-HTP – Helps you get deep restful sleep and extremely vivid dreams. A lot of guys suffer with struggling falling asleep and struggle with serious temptations at nighttime. 5-HTP combined with a high carb meal before bedtime will knock you the fuck out and send you into dreamland. Dreams are especially vivid. (Amazon)
Beet juice – Extremely good for your cardiovascular system. I would put this on par with Cialis. If you have erectile dysfunction, definitely look into it.
Anesthetized by BlackStone Labs – Can be used as an alternative to 5-HTP. You don’t need this UNLESS you have serious insomnia and have a very hard time falling asleep at night. There would be nights where I would roll around, wanting to relapse. I had a container of this on my shelf. Within half an hour, I’m knocked out cold. Works way better than OTC sleep aids. Times where I took modafinil too late in the day, this was a huge life saver when it would otherwise be impossible to fall asleep. (Source)
Avoid high sugar energy drinks and Starbucks coffee.
Stick to regular coffee with creamer and Splenda. You can use modafinil if you want, but you certainly don’t need it.
In an ideal situation, it would be best to avoid amphetamine based stimulants altogether.
Because they make you ridiculously horny and flood your brain with dopamine.
I’ve noticed a large positive correlation between pornography consumption and stimulant consumption. A lot of porn addicts are also notorious for slamming down a lot of soda and sugar during the day. Best case scenario would be to eliminate the energy drinks and soda.
Energy drinks and amphetamines DO NOT mix well with a porn or masturbation addiction.

How much will it cost me?
The supplements will cost less than $1/day. Anesthetized can get pricey if you’re using it every single night. I usually just save it for when it would be otherwise impossible to fall asleep.
The food cost is very reasonable. I do recommend a variety of vegetables (spinach, onions, beans, kale). You can rotate the meat sources for variety and add hot sauce and seasonings for extra flavor.
Eating well does not mean you’re depriving yourself.
Experiment with different seasonings and over time you’ll grow to love the taste of real food over the processed garbage that you’re currently accustomed to.
I can hardly even eat McDonald’s anymore because after eating well for such a long time, it just tastes disgusting to me!
How will all of this impact my success on getting clean?
The getting clean recovery process takes a huge process on the body and mind. Our goal is to speed up the physical process and avoid making it harder than it has to be.
You can tweak the diet to your liking, but there are 3 key components that you should adhere to:
- Eat the majority of your carbs closer to bedtime for an easier time falling asleep.
- Get your hands on zinc and magnesium.
- For best results, supplement at or near bedtime.
